Every video project is different and so they will all cost different amounts. There are so many variables:
-
Research (How much is required and how much can the client provide?)
-
Script production
-
Number of locations
-
Size of crew
-
Final quality
-
In-house or 'famous name' presenter / narrator
-
Number of animations
-
Quality of delivery format required - e.g.:- glossy printing
Please remember that most of the work involved is done in the Pre-production and Post-production stages. The shoot, the most visible part of the production, is often the shortest part.As a potential client, that doesn't help you much to budget.
How Can We Keep Our Costs Down?
The best way to minimise the costs, without cutting back on the quality, is to stay focused on the project.
There are ways of keeping the costs down:
-
Avoid commercially produced music. (a well known song can help get your message across, but it can also distract the viewer from your message so you do need to think about it).
-
Strive to minimise the shoot period. If the shoot lasts more than one day, can it be arranged to have a one man crew for some of the time? By carefully scheduling the shoot you may be able to reduce the number of days required.
-
Animations are time consuming. Do you really need them?
-
Do you need a famous name presenter / voice over? Or, could you choose an in house voiceover artist.
